Hawai‘i is a stunning place. This was my first trip to the Big Island, and we stayed for a week at a condo south of Kona, on the island's western shore. The beaches are rocky, and the surf is pretty big. The rocks are full of crabs and tide pools, making for fun morning walks exploring the sea life.
